Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and two songs, one ballad and one up-tempo.

Synopsis: Freely adapted from the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, excitement runs high in this musical version of a favorite childhood adventure story. Stevenson’s thrilling tale of pirates, treasure maps, mutiny on the high seas and pieces of eight follows Jim Hawkins, an ordinary youth, drawn into a dangerous race for buried treasure against the treacherous Long John Silver. As the author himself wrote, “If this don’t fetch the kids, why, they have gone rotten since my day.”

Characters:

Tom Morgan – First Mate of the schooner Hispaniola, Lead, Baritone
Billy Bones – A former pirate, character role, Baritone
Mrs. Hawkins – Proprietress of the Admiral Benbow Inn, character role, soprano
Jim Hawkins – Mrs. Hawkins’ teenage son, Tenor or Baritone
Meg – a young barmaid at the Inn, character/comedic role, Soprano or Mezzo
Pew – a blind conspirator, character role, non-singing
Black Dog – Pew’s henchman, character role, non-singing
Captain Alexander Smollett – Master of the Hispaniola – Baritone
Israel Hands – The Coxswain, character role – Baritone
George Merry – The Ship’s Navigator – character role – Baritone
Job Anderson – The Boatswain, young character role – Baritone
Dick Johnson – The ship’s senior Deck Hand – character role – Baritone
Long John Silver – the peg leg cook, character role – Baritone
Ben Gunn – A former pirate marooned on the island, comedic/character role – Tenor

Men’s and Women’s Chorus/Company – Sailors, Pirates, Dancers, Wives, sweethearts, barmaids, various types and voices.

Diverse, multi-ethnic cast for ages 15 and up.
